Inara is a third year LLB/BDes student at the University of Auckland. Interested in the emergence of AI, Inara inspects the crossover of technology and people, and how artists’ right to their work can be protected. Her designs feature bold, vivid colours and a narrative approach to connect people and foster meaningful connections. In the course of Design 212, she explored the traditional Bengali method of kantha which repurposes waste textile materials and turns them into quilted blankets. Based on her experimentation in this course, she created the Talking Threads quilt which reflects on her experience as one of the few Bengali speakers in New Zealand. Outside of her design-making, Inara enjoys travelling and learning about different cultures and languages (Chinese, Japanese, and Hindi) via gastronomy.
